Your location stays in your browser. It's matched against zone boundaries right here, and only your zone's timetable is downloaded. Outside the countries with an official timetable, the times are calculated right here too.

Where the times come from

Wherever there's an official timetable, simplesolat uses it, taken from each country's religious authority:

Country Official source
Malaysia JAKIM
Singapore MUIS
Indonesia Kemenag (via EQuran.id)
Brunei KHEU
Sri Lanka ACJU
Turkey Diyanet
United Arab Emirates AWQAF
Bosnia and Herzegovina IZ BiH (Vaktija)
Albania KMSH

Everywhere else, the app calculates the times on your phone, using the method that's usual in your country, and the prayer times above do the same in your browser. Zone boundaries come from geoBoundaries, and country borders from Natural Earth.

Privacy

simplesolat works out your prayer zone on your phone, by checking your location against zone boundaries it has downloaded. Your location is never sent anywhere. The only thing the app asks a server for is the timetable for your zone.

There's no account, no analytics and no ads. Read the full privacy policy.

Help

Reminders late, the widget not updating, or the wrong zone? The support page has fixes for the common problems, and how to contact me.

For developers

The prayer times behind simplesolat are public: static files on a CDN, with zones, boundaries and monthly timetables, readable from any website. This page reads them straight from your browser. See simplesolat-data for the format and the sources.

Why it exists

simplesolat started after the free prayer app I relied on stopped working, and I found out why. Read the story.
